It’s no longer just about the bars on Washington Avenue. When Kitchen713 relocated from its original Second Ward location, the team also realized dreams for an evolving culinary scene along the party strip.
The huge new digs have paved the way for a hip bar scene along with lunch, dinner, innovative cocktails, and a splendid weekend brunch.
Casual City Chic
For weekday lunch and on weeknights, you’ll find a casually-dressed, easy-going crowd from the neighborhood and local business dwellers who are grateful for tasty new options in the area.
With a sleek industrial feel, the curved bar is the focal point of the venue. Its subtle blue glow compliments a more fashionable nighttime crowd, including daters and larger groups on the weekends.
If You Like Spice
Do not miss several of the zesty starter options, including the smoked jerk ribs, marinated and smoked with a combination of Caribbean and Asian flavors (packing quite a punch); or the Thai fried chicken wings with a sweet plantain chili dip, crispy shallots, herbs, and sticky rice, served with Thai hot sauce.
Vegans will love the vegan spicy chili, loaded with fresh veggies and two kinds of beans, and topped with an avocado crema; or the vegan crispy okra, served with a fantastic tomato jam and pickled chiles.

Small plates are the way to go with so many innovative dishes to try. Check out the chicken-fried quail with a “spiced sorghum drizzle”, served atop corn puree and a Spring salad made with fresh greens.
Or try Italian-fusion with an excellent “down south carbonara” pasta dish with mustard greens, parmesan, egg yolk, bacon, and peas.
Large plates run the gamut from smoked whole fish with a luscious avocado-tomato salad and roasted jalapeno butter to the divine west-African inspired braised “pepper pot” goat stew with potatoes and crispy okra.
Chef-Designed Cocktails & Happy Hour
Sublime seasonal cocktails are created by Chef James including the fabulous Cucumber Sour with Pisco, cucumber, jalapeno, house Thai bitters, lime and topped with a frothy egg white.
For something a little more in your face, check out the Smoked Rum Punch featuring both “stolen” and “spiced” rum, charred pineapple, lime, crème de casis, fresh strawberry, ginger tincture, and Jamaican bitters.
Happy Hour is every Tuesday to Friday from 3pm to 7pm with appetizer specials, $5 taps, wines by the glass and wells, plus daily drink specials like “Tequila Tuesday” with $5 margaritas and $2 off tequila.
Brunch Both Days
On Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 3pm, enjoy one of the city’s most clever brunch menus and make a reservation – it’s quickly become quite popular.
Winning items include the biscuits and tasso gravy, housemade “Koji” kolaches, and the marvelous “bacon eggs and rice” with smoked pork belly, soft egg, Koshihikari rice, pickled asparagus, pork broth, and tempura beads.
